Red Mercury

She took a trip in her red Mercury
The sky was black and white
She couldn’t bear to look into the mirror
Knots of limbs hanging out of the light
Oh, she left her heart down on the floor
Oh, she left her shoes back by the door
She took a trip in her red Mercury
And dreamed of eggshell skies
The windows opened with a bending light
Heat and limbs hanging back in her eyes
Oh, she left her heart down on the floor
Oh, she left her shoes back by the door
Oh, she left her heart down on the floor
Oh, she left her shoes back by the door

Here Before
04:04
|
|||
aslant from a well near a sea
I offer myself to the sky
my bones fold into wearing pools
of water, of dirt, of moonlight, of rye
absolve my heart
I am lasting
I have love that reaches deep
with no askers asking
do I cut my hair
do I offer my beginnings
to make something true
and I have been, been here before
and I love again
upon a hill of patchwork green
I offer my roots to the land
ephemeral arms outstretched to me
heavy, heavy into sinking sand
absolve my heart
I am lasting
I have love that reaches deep
with no askers asking
do I cut the thread
do I offer a beginning
to make something true
and I have been, been here before
and I love again
and I love again

Riverside

I sit in a room carved from a rind
A luminous room of wanting and birth
My friend - come here - I offer you mine
In this room made of stone, deep in wet earth
I try to say: if you want, come down to the river
My love - say you'll stay when my bones are all but gone
Say you want the bits and the slivers
Take me truly, take me none
But you arrive and my tongue falls dumb
And this small patch of moon falls down to my feet
And this angling room has become
Simple walls made of stone and heat

Sky Below
04:40
|

Look inside of here
Still red and blue and learned by rote
A half broken table, in the corner
Look inside of here
Black and white and buoyed afloat, in the corner
Look over here, a terrible mirror of sky below
Look over there, a fossil swept clean like an old patio
